When You Were Small

I used to have a brain you know, I used it quite a lot, But then you babies came along And i seemed to lose the plot. Wiping, cleaning, hoovering It really is quite boring, The washing basket's full again, I'll do it in the morning. I'll help you with your homework, I'll tune your violin, I'll make a lovely meal Then throw it in the bin. The days are long, the years are short And soon the time has flown, You're becoming little people With opinions of your own! One is starting nursery, One has just turned ten, The biggest now a teenager Texting all her friends. 'What will you do all day' they ask 'When we are all at school?' 'I'm going to dance, and tend my plants Then laps around the pool'. 'And then at night, when you're asleep, Your faces soft and warm I know i'll start remembering These days when you were small'.
