When Will Autumn Come
We are still waiting for Autumn to come
The grass is green, the leaves hang on
All we ask is for it to finally cool down
You go out, you sweat, you have a frown
Did someone decide we did not deserve it
Is a never-ending summer all that we get?
We’ll be wearing swimsuits on Halloween
There’s supposed to a break in between
And I can just see our Thanksgiving meal
We’ll eat watermelon, with shrimp to peel!
Oh, Wait, I think I just saw a leaf fall
Please, don’t tell me that will be all…
But we looked out, the trees were bare
We raked up leaves in the cool brisk air
And for that one week Autumn had begun
Alas, a week later our Autumn was done!
