This hits close to home. I had a friend who died before her 20th birthday from cancer. She'd lived without one of her legs for most of her teen years. She married her boyfriend not long before she went to the next world, bless her heart. Your words are so deep and emotional, Jan. You write with such compassion and you don't shy away from any subject, I just love that about you. Hugs ~ John

Jan, Amazing, sad and poignant. I feel as if I was standing by the hospital bed ..witnessing. What a gift to wed for even half a day if the heart is full and at peace and connected to its beloved. thank you

Despite the history books, living in Queen Victoria's England was no bed of roses for the working class as many could only afford to marry on one's deathbed. But today, that is no longer an option because the funeral is unaffordable! Another great write, Jan! Good luck in the contest! Aloha! Rico

Hi Jan, You’ve penned such a sad and heartfelt story. You captured what the “quote’s” meaning in a profound way. It was evident in your well written write how “ Time” is a thief that can’t be banished. Their union didn’t even last a day. Good content and rhymes. It looks like a winner to me. Best wishes in the contest- Alexis
