When the Moon Rose Full
By the light of a rising moon
Did I once fall in love.
I believe it was the month of June
When the moon rose full above.
And I recall the summertime,
The waft of jasmine sweet—
As we drank of wine, and vintage rhyme,
The cool grass at our feet.
Even now I dread the sunrise;
That early break of day—
The hint of light I still despise
That swept the moon away!
