When the Bugle's Called

One by one they fall
Answering the bugle’s call
Died by the bullet and the blade….when
"Over the top", the officers said

Bodies of men from battles long ago
Lie alongside from the ones of today
They all have one thing, done with accord
They answered the bugles call

All in a line with white crosses atop
White, black, short tall, religion all
Death doesn’t choose where it strikes
When these heroes answered the bugles call.

Their family and friends unite in their grief
Heartbroken one and all
Losing their loved ones without saying goodbye
Now they lay poppies, to those who answered...
...... the bugles call......
