WHEN MY SMILE WAS REAL

She used her ears to hear, I used my heart. I played the dumb-ass, She played it smart. My heart is broken over a love that never existed. No hesitation from me, I never resisted. It is my fault, I took her serious. The entire time she Was nefarious. I knew peace, Then came the chaos. She moved on, I paid the cost. The way she looked at me, That first time. I believed it was more than Sublime. Love is blind, I was unable to see. She evolved into someone she swore she would never be. She sliced me with Cruelty. From the pain comes A thing of beauty. I know my heart, will never heal. I miss when my smile was real. Turbo1904?

Well done! You know all love poems can’t be happily ever after because life isn’t. It’s somber but melodic! I enjoyed it!

Love the title! And enjoyed the rhyming flow of your poem, though on a tough subject.
