When Memories Slip Away

When memories slip away
when they sink into an
endless sunset
when minutes swiftly sift
through the hourglass of time…

…hold me tenderly, hold me close
before my story ends
remember the moments
we have together
dreams that time transcends.

I feel so vulnerable
so powerless and alone
my words have become elusive
emotions drain into listless puddles
my thoughts crumble from within.

Stay with me now
through this wretched storm
stay close to me
stay by my side
be the rock that I can cling to
against the shifting sands
that haunt my mind.

Hi Laura, You penned a good poem on the subject matter. Precious memories are a gift, so we must cherish them. One never knows if they will "slip away" as your poem expressed so well. Have a great day and weekend:-)Alexis

Losing those precious memories can be so fearful, you have expressed that so skillfully here~

This one reads like someone is suffering from Alzheimers. The realization that memories are slipping away and they just want to feel needed again. Close? Great to see you again, Laura.
