When I Was One With It

my hair is riddled with sand
and the particles make their way all around
through my damp river water locks of braided hair

the swaying of the water sends me back to life when it was tranquil and when i was one with it
i dream of quietness quite like this
with my skin submerged in water
and it forming a smile across my lips

when i am with the earth nothing else proves as semblance
the impurities wash away with the dragging current, bottled in a sea shell
within these waters- i exist as a depiction of grace in this sacred space

blue paints the sky, bird song fills my ears
warmth of light in hues of fire encompasses my skin- freckled and sun kissed
my bare feet intertwine with the pebble sand floor of the river bottoms

woven are my hands with the waves how they dance alongside the tide
embrace me in this pool of rapture
refine my shortcomings whenever i may turn to you

my unclothed body rests between the remnants of the undertow
buoyant as the flower petals that float atop the water's wetness in spring
the lightness of my essence is intensified here and i am reborn
forever held in this clarity and healing that reshapes my core
