When I Sleep

sometimes when i sleep
i know i hear YOU speak    

i almost answer........

then my heart stops 

just
for

a  second

and it hurts

i realize
we will never be
together again
on this earth

then

the

thump da dump
resumes

as i recall
your seeking me out
....and loving me

and

i

close my eyes 
and just for a second
i am your girl again
just like you said 
the last time you
kissed me goodbye

and i just go on...

sleeping....listening......waiting
