When I Imagine You In Your Childhood

You went swimming on a sizzling summer’s day
With the big girls,
They swimmed in the slow water and you bathed as a bird
  By the shallow shore.	
I laugh a long loud laugh, at your each dip.
You ran home with the other school-girls
 They pushed you aside
And left you last and ‘lone
 On the ghastly lonely path
Between the villages.
I shed a tear at your each 
Worried, hurried, tiny step!

You implored your sister to take you along
To the festival in adjacent village;
She said,
“No! You are dirty, …running nose!”
And you watched her moving over-joyous, 
With wet eyes—until far!
	Go and tell her
We are going World Tour very soon.

He must be teaching the girl angels in heaven 
Modesty, purity and faithfulness
Inspiring the young boys with passion
 (That Greek teacher had taught his disciple War
And he went to conquer the whole world!)
That old teacher patted you on head
And said, “Good girl! You will sure go ahead in life.”
In fact those were the true teachers 
Who could read their pupils’ faces
And tell…
