When I Am Older
And what shall I do, when I am old
What fortune lies untold
When I grow old
Will I be bold
Thrive among the smart and powerful
Will I, in future
Be who I always wanted to be
Will you be there with me
Strong, vibrant, free
Will you hear my name
On the streets
Or will you be there
Right beside me
Or will you watch
From a tower high
Watch me as I live or die
A thread upon a mighty rope
No we can't know
But we can surely hope
Hope for a better world
Hope for a better future
Somewhere my kids can grow
Without the burdens of this world
Where imagination thrives
Love and peace overflowing
War and famine, but a memory
Just another page in the history
Of our scarring, terrible, wonderful and awe inspiring world
So what will I do
Where will I go
No one knows
What future will be told,
How the world will unfold
When our pasts are just a memory
