When I Am But a Fossil

When I am but a fossil All bones, no flesh Crushed in the earth, I will dream of discovery By scientists pondering Who I was…, When I lived. When I am but a fossil From the distant past Will someone Of great renown Reconstruct me, and ask Who I was…, When I lived?

Oh, I rather doubt it. Hey, to fossilize...that would be a zillion years from now. I haven't done anything to merit a teeny-tiny dot in the pages of history...and a zillion years????????

Thanks, Gershon. The first stanza just popped into my head, and somehow I wound up adding the second to give it a tweak! Glad you found it fascinating.
