When God Reads
We are God's stories--
His novels,poems, plays...
Some of us are short stories,
lives brief but poignant,
perhaps more so than
those who are long, winding novels.
A few are sonnets, stellar,
like bright shooting stars streaking
silently across the infinite
night-black sky....
Fewer still become grand epic poems
that all know of but few ever read.
Some march as soldiers of war
or fortune or hope in histories
written with a divine pen.
Others strut about, comics
in the farce of their lives.
The sad ones play tragedy,
till they can finally awaken.
And the babies are haiku,
evoking a moment in time
yet eternal nonetheless.
