Notes About The Poem

When Goblins Come

It’s nighttime when the goblins come
And whisper in my head
“Before you wake from dreamland, girl
Who is the next one dead?

When will the good days that you live
Take on a ghastly turn?
It's coming sooner than you think
the time when dreams will burn.

You lie in bed of privilege
And shoo us all away
Yet well you know that things might change
When you see light of day

Vile illnesses abide their time
Your youth’s not meant to last
Each ache and pain a testament
Old age is coming fast

Catastrophes are round the bend
Don’t think that you’ll be spared
Security snatched in the storm
Your fears will all be bared

So slumber if you think you can
Close now those eyes real tight
While we all dance around your bed
And party through the night"

I watched a movie called the Entity when I was very young. It was supposedly based on a true story. This brought it to mind. Three plus years later this is still creepy to read. Hugs Rick. It was nice having you visit.

I love the poem, Eileen, though I hate the thought of somebody having awful nights like these. Deep down you are strong...don't let those goblins get to you! Hugs ~ paul

Thanks, dear. I try. I'm not always successful. Some nights are better than others. Sending you lots of hugs.

Eef! It would take a tortured soul to write so eloquently of this. Hugs lovely. I am no stranger to depression. I wish you ease of being.

Thanks, dear. Unfortunately, this is reality for me. I'm on antidepressents, and I take my happy pill in the morning. In the evenings, when I'm tired, these depressing thoughts come to me. It's hard to chase them away. Thanks for the visit. Hugs

I'm not happy that they've made the rounds with you too, Arthur. But you can empathize with me having been there yourself. Hugs, dear.

Thank you for your visit, Carol. They are very persistent in creating havoc.
