From sundown Saturday through darkness Sunday evening is 'Tishe b'Av, a Jewish Public Fast Day, mourning the loss of the Temple in Jerusalem.

Involuntary fasts forever last Obeying commands a true test for man A fast day goes slowly moods somber, lowly Belly-rumbles remind us the day's a grind... The fast ends, we eat Food never tasted so sweet Once past the brief pain ~ What was gained

Well said Gershon. When I fast it helps if I read or do something I really enjoy to take my mind of eating. Sometimes at work you can be so engrossed in what you're doing you forget to stop for lunch. Guess that's what the lunch bell is for. lol Great write my friend. God Bless, JB

It's true. I used to work on this fast day, and it went much quicker than it does now. Thanks, Judy. :) gw

Exactly. Food tastes too good. Gotta avoid the trap of stuffing oneself afterward though. :) gw

I like your phrase there, Alexis; 'Soup Ville Lane.' Very poetic. Thanks a million. Hugs, Gershon

Good question there at the end, Gershon. I understand the various traditions of the faiths, but I, too, have often wondered what they accomplish. Just sayin'.

Yes, indeed. It is important to know why one is fasting, and what can be accomplished -- not just 'how to get through it.' Thanks, Milt. :) gw
