Notes About The Poem

When Doves Cry Poetry Contest  N/A  8/8/23

When Doves Cry

When Doves Cry

Along a seaside promenade in Bray
it was on the radio
You loved it there
This is where you’ll come to lie
Spiritual journey comes to rest
Activism, and socio-political views
Social justice
Your voice
brings me sadness
as I played
a song for you
I heard the doves cry
A torn photo
A public letter
in the news
Just want to say that
Nothing Compares 2 U

Enchanted by the ethereal resonance of Sinead's voice and the profound depth of her words, the essence of her being was skillfully encapsulated within the poetic realm you crafted. A poignant tapestry of beauty and yearning, your masterful interweaving of words and imagery showcases an artist's profound understanding of the human condition, leaving a lingering melancholy in its wake. Best wishes for the contest

A unique voice indeed, Laasad. May she rest now for eternity in peace and in stillness. She is remembered through her songs. I'm most pleased that I was able to do her at least an assemblance of justice. Thank you, dear poet!

A heartfelt tribute to Sinead, yes they finally laid her to rest yesterday, a huge turnout and lots of tears in Bray, and further afield, an admirable and pertinent write, cheers David
