Still sick, so here's another 'old' one, written about a year ago when I decided to start writing poems in English :)

Wheels are my legs effectively And faster than your legs can be And I can spin around you see? And outrun you eternally. I even race the stairs you know From all up here to down below And scoop you up, and there we go We do it ten times in a row. I park my chair next to my bed Now leave it there, don’t make me sad. You want to race it? Don’t be mad, I need my chair, right now, nuff said! You have your legs, I have my wheels. I know exactly how it feels, To fall in love head over heels, With an object that forever steals Part of my independent ways. I have sometimes my sombre days I always know though, it’s a phase. I am right here, my wheelchair stays! *** August 2016 Copyright © Darren White

Fun, isn't it :) I always try to add a little humour to the poems where I introduce some of my 'flaws' to people :)

This is wheelie good too. Like skipping through a garden holding hands with a dandelion. Or, maybe that's insensitive to say in this case, lemme try again. It's like rolling down a plywood ramp towards a garden being pushed by a dandelion. This is my way of saying I like your poem, just to be clear.

You are such a wonderful inspiration, Darren. I have been in a wheelchair from time to time. I can't imagine having to use one for my entire life. A very uplifting read:)

Yes I still have my chair and sometimes when my back hurts so much I can't walk, then I have to use it. Most days I get around with just a cane but then there are times when I've tried to do something I'm not supposed to and wind up back in the darned thing for a few days.

Oh, you did? Do you still have to? Yes, it was hard to deal with it, but when it becomes clear it will not change, it's better to get used to it. And so I did. :) Thanks Daniel!

Hahaha, OH yes I won. And then my chair was confiscated and I had to stay in bed, as punishment hahaha, Was a few years ago. I started a new movement there, more kids started doing that... They were NOT happy with me for a while :D

Let's hope Sara doesn't read this Lisa. I had to promise her and my other FB friends to not race anymore, because I once dropped down the stairs with chair and al LOL. They weren't very pleased ;)
