What's Important

With age I realize How little I really need I came to this earth With absolutely nothing I’ll leave it just as empty handed Still were I alone And my house on fire I wouldn’t hesitate to grab my purse And my six framed watercolor paintings I’d tear them right off the wall Knowing my muse is so fickle She may never again visit me So these paintings created years ago May truly be irreplaceable As I may never again be inspired I wouldn’t take a chance Submitted on February 6, 2019 for contest SEVEN THINGS YOU WOULD SAVE IF YOUR HOUSE WAS ON FIRE sponsored by CAREN KRUTSINGER - RANKED 1ST

Another benefit to a minimalist lifestyle would be the peace of mind that should a fire or other disaster strike you would easily grab the things most precious. Enjoyed this piece and congratulations!

Reminds me a bit of my self but, I'd go for the journals and sketchbooks where my ideas begin; then I can reconstruct. Wonderful salvage though.

I understand about the paintings I paint and I have some I don't remember how I did them and couldn't do them again. I would take my little biity dog and my thumb drive with my writing on it.

That's awesome that you paint, Timothy. It's nice that our poetry is on PS so that is a bit less of a worry.

I definitely understand your feeling in this piece... my muse is fickle, too! I would love to paint the way I did years ago, but it's gone- at least for now (in that style). Great write! ;)

I agree, purse would definitely be one item to go. I would have a hard time leaving my clothes, shoes, barbie dolls or my Lenox China, etc.

Good opportunity to go shopping and replace everything. Start from scratch.
