What's Done Is Done

You can't call back the things you've done,
Nor stop the words you've spoken.
Accusing one another now,
Will not mend pledges broken.

The past is but a memory,
Of old things done and over,
Merely shades of times gone by,
That cannot be lived over.

One cannot live one's whole life through,
Beneath a darksome burden,
To hurl dark spears of wrath o'er long,
Will cause a fearsome burgeon;

A growth that kills the good in life,
And leaves but empty shells;
It's best to leave the past alone,
Just memorys on the shelf.

                                      Judy Ball

"FOR WHERE ENVY AND STRIFE IS, THERE IS CONFUSION AND EVERY EVIL WORK."
                                                                                                       James 3:16

It's a lot easier to hurt someone who cares about you than someone who doesn't.

how long we judge the hurt to last. a shortened figure will last and last. a bitter memory can kill a dream. what once was mild is now extreme.

Just leave em on the shelf! That's right, Judy! Such wisdom and grace written in this poem. A real keeper! Glad u enjoyed my Crybaby Barb. Just think of the company I was in to be read out loud with some of you Poetry Soup greats! I am just honored to have written for Miss Carolyn's delightful dinner party...and be the main course too! It is certainly better to take the high road. Thank you for the reminder. Thoughtful, apt poem.

Imagine what things could be like if people could let go of things. If they could just understand that only half of what gets said is actually meant and half of that half gets misinterpreted. Tony
