What Would You Have Me Do -- a Memorial Day Tribute

Oh gallant sons of glory, Whose years were so precious few -- In payment for the debt I owe, What would you have me do? If only I could hear, What question would you ask? To pay this debt of honor, Just what would be my task? Could your immortal spirits Meet me face to face, What would you have me do To calm your resting place? Could I breach the chasm of death And ask you to answer true, In payment for the lives you gave, What would you have me do?

This is excellent, John. You raised the right questions without injecting an opinion. Cheers, Roy

This was born of an afternoon funeral at a National Cemetery some years ago.... I left with that question that wouldn't leave me alone. Thanks, Roy, your comments are my inspiration.... Jake

What a touching tribute to those who lost their lives defending their countries--believing in good over evil. Nice one John. You know of people in Oklahoma? My prayers are there right now.

Kim, My heart aches for the people in Oklahoma. My family endured the Hurricane CELIA in August of 1970. You don't hear much about it... It was small and powerful.. Google "Celia" and you will see the damage it wrought. We came through unscathed. BTW thanks for your comments on my tribute...Love ya dearly... Jake
