What Would I Be Saying

Lord, what would I be saying
     if I should stop praying--
Except that I do not need You
and I much rather live my way!

Would I be saying I don't need Your wisdom,
at every crossroad that I shall come to,
Or I don't need Your strength at all
when the storms of trials should fall?

 Would I also be saying
      that I have a love that already overflows;
That my heart has been stretched to it's fullest
and in it there is no need to grow?

But that would be a lie!

For I know I must never stop praying,
seeking You continuously to show me Your way.
 I need Your perfect wisdom
to guide me in all of life's decisions!

I pray at the coming of every dark cloud,
because only in You I can stand,
For You are my strong tower,
the One who strengthens me by Your hand.

I know I so often fall short,
when I should show others love,
And I pray that love be increased in me,
as Your grace is poured out from above.
