WHAT WERE YOU MOST PROUD OF IN 2024

When did your heart and soul soar,
And bring you happiness galore,
When did you see your way ahead clear,
Was it amazing and awesome,
So encompassing and wholesome,
What delighted you most,
Was it your help at the charity store,
Which satisfied you to your core,
Or was it that old man
You helped cross the road,
Or the little boy you helped
Find and catch his big toad,
Or maybe it was that freezing night,
That you brought warmth and light,
To the poor under the bridge,
When you got a mighty hug from Midge.
Or perhaps it was that
Heartwarming day,
On the 1st May,
When you gave chocolate eggs,
To all the children in need,
Wearing rags,
With no shoes on their feet.
Do you remember that multiple accident,
On the highway,
Where a number of people did pay,
With their life,
There was many a child,
Some a husband, others a wife,
Died at this horrific scene,
And you wept, for what you could not do.
All were good folk, and came to me.
This, I want you to know,
That from today,
I have saved you
A place dear Anne,
For I am a big fan,
Of people like you,
Of which sadly exist, so few,
For you will help everyone,
And risk your all for anyone.

Jennifer, I think it's clear you know what is important and what can make us feel good about ourselves. Doesn't it seem obvious to us, yet so hidden from many! I do have a question. You refer to Anne and I'm not sure who that is. The people you know who are your friends are very lucky indeed. As you say, there are not enough with these qualities...or perhaps the people who worship money and power and simply sucking up all the air. I'm leaning to the former.

Such a detailed and emotional poem. And so caring. I like the twist in the end, where you are actually proud of your friend. Thanks for your comments on my poem,

I can't decide. Shold I be prouder of the time I rescued ten fleas from an autocratic circus master, or the time that I held it in for ten hours while I waited in line for the bathroom at Disney World? Tough choice there. What say you, Jennifer?

Acts of kindness bring joy to us, though they demand many sacrifices. By reading your poem I can understand the bend of your mind. You are indeed compassionate dear Jen. I don't know about whom you are talking. I assume this Anne is someone you know closely. My happiest moment of 2024 was holding my first grandchild in my arms. Wish you sweet friend, a blissful and joy filled year ahead.

Valsa my dear dear friend, Happy New YearI am sure that with your gorgeous, little bundle of joy, your grandchild, it will be the best year ever. What a coincidence that all three of us, you, Deb. and myself have all had their first grandchild in the last two years. Our little grand-Daughter turned two on the 1st January this year. She is interacting and talking and was assessed for Grade 'R' which has become compulsory in S.A. What a precious friend you are Valsa. Love and hugs, Jennifer. .

Dear Anne deserves a seat at the head of the table, and yet she won’t be there until she is through, likely… Great write!
