What To Believe
WHAT TO BELIEVE
Imagination!
powerful brain creation
that can seem quite real
has been used to fashion gods
and other scary notions
memory function!
amazing brain retrieval
of past happenings
that may or may not be true
or perhaps wishful thinking
I 'member my dog
a sweet little dachshund pup
but can imagine
him as a protective wolf
glad to give his life for me
confirmed evidence!
without whiich we are guessing,
the basis for fact
not only is it tested
but also repeatable
as a little child
I "saw" a nighttime creature
with horns and a tail
my dad turned on all the lights
and we never confirmed it
visibility!
might seem needed for belief
but air is still real
although I've never seen it-
love is invisible, too
you might just conclude
if prayers are not answered
the reason may be
they are heard but not valued.
or there's no one listening
you might believe life
is not a dependency
on a dictator
but an opportunity
for us to do it ourselves
a sense of freedom
is a welcome attribute
of personal life
free of any delusion
of invisible spying
your very good friends
may "know" what is best for you,
but you will soon find
it's whatever they've chosen
to be the best for themselves
so it remains true-
you choose your belief system
with complete freedom.
no one can criticise you
or claim that you don't get it
nothing tops the joy
of discovering beliefs
through your own efforts
that also means it's OK
to edit them on your own
