What Remains

The eyes said to the heart & brain I see clearly The mirage isn't nearly as close as it once was Actions do as an action does & things are what they will be You see more once the veil has been removed The shoes on these feet no longer have legs to move What you have seen proves your eyes haven't lied They've spied things that the mind despised leaving your heart tender It rendered you motionless in a river of emotions that drowned you in loves potion Now your vision is open to new beginnings It's a sin to not follow or be true to what your reality is rendering I'm not lost in the illusion of what love is or should be I'm free from its chains & what remains due to its captivity I'm sending a heart shaped symbol masked with chivalry as it hides behind disdain What remains is a memory once etched into the brain A cold picture & reminder to never again feel the same It's shameful what we're forced to endure as a pure heart & soul There is no cure for a heart grown cold & sick from the rain Never scorn one full of love & pain lest your constitution be bold
