What People Forget

People seem to forget what love really is. It goes past flowers, small gifts. It’s much more than that. Love showed up when you aren’t longing for it.Love is the reason you get though a long day. Love is those little text messages you see on your phone when you get a second to breathe and time slows down enough for you to smile. Love waits for you as dirty and greasy as you might be from work with a warm hug and the shower running. Love eats ice cream with you for dinner as you binge watch your favorite show that you have seen a million times . Love is off key singing in the shower, music blasting from your kitchen as meals are being made. Love is the reason you cook as you put all your effort into a meal. Love is lazy day cuddles, stories about your day, inside jokes and stupid names you call each other. Love is wondering where all your soap went in the shower and not really caring. Love is the toilet seat left up and beard stubble in the sink because they are late for work, as a apology for the mess is being yelled as they are out the door. Love is being pushed from your comfort zone in every possible way. Love is looking at them and going “ they are worth it. Let’s go” and you end up doing things and going places you never thought you would be. Love is taking chances and learning things about yourself you never knew; and actually seeing for yourself that language truly has no barrier. Love forces you to learn. Learn that your ego and pride are stupid, and to push them aside. Easy to say hard to do.
Love is a lot of things, you just have to know how to look for it.
