What Kind of God

What kind of God gives a man hope. Pulls him from the abyss with golden rope. Stokes the coals, relights the fire. Give the man a new desire. The wanderer no longer lost. He no longer bears the albatross. His purpose renewed, his strength restored. He now knows what he’s living for. Each day he’s thankful for what’s been given. Awake so early, he’s surely driven. Each day so full of just rewards. The goal in sight, he’s moving towards. Life has new meaning, not for naught. The daily struggle no longer fraught With fear about what lies ahead. Only bliss, the tears been shed. And then comes the day he’s waited for To repay his debts, begin to soar. The time he’s waited, many a year. A celebration for all to hear. But this God has chosen to burst his bubble. He really wasn’t worth the trouble. This God was never truly on the level. The man then learned that God’s the Devil.

You are entitled to write about your faith as you please, Guy. You make quite a dramatic switch in the last stanza, however. The God I know is real and likewise the Devil; but they are miles apart in my experience.
