What Is An Artist

Vincent Van Gogh
gave Starry Nights their lucent glow.
Then he took a pair of shears
and cut off his unsuspecting ear.

John Lennon
never once reeled his pen in.
He wrote and sang what he pleased,
raising hell while promoting peace.

William Wordsworth
worshipped this fickle earth.
With England's vast Lake District,
his tortured soul instantly clicked.

Art Clokey,
creator of Gumby and Pokey.
With no real wisdom to relay,
he distracted us with nonsensical clay.

I am not very familiar with clerihew, but these look like you did an excellent job on them! Any aspirations I had to be an artist are thoroughly doused. It sounds like a depressing life! :) ~ Soupmail.

These were super well done, Heather! It seems the most creative people weren't without their fair share of problems (never heard about Goh's ear shearing?... that's a bit disturbing). I love how your clerihews followed a theme... I had a lot of fun doing this with musicians through out the ages.

Hi! This is a great piece of work. I must say...VINCENT was a troubled soul, that's why he is my favorite artist...clipped ear and all! :) Thanks for your recent visit, my dear...hugs!
