What Ifs

By far the saddest thing ever experienced Is separating from family members Because of drama We fail to see the big picture And what is really important We are only on this Earth for a short time There is only enough time for love, not hate Our most precious gift is our family Even with our tempers, screw-ups and egos We must never forsake our family The pain of alienating and driving away a family member Stings and never goes away We can understand when A stranger hurts us But never a loved one This type of broken heart never heals And festers for a lifetime then it is too late for what ifs and should ofs We say we want to forgive We try to convince ourselves all is forgiven And it’s all in the past but that lie is part of the pain
