What If I Could Escape Tomorrow

"You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today." - Abraham Lincoln

What if I could escape tomorrow?
Today, if I sit and dream,
can I escape tomorrow?
Maybe tomorrow will not come,
then will I have escaped it?
My responsibilities are many,
somehow they always catch up to me.
Remember tomorrow was today,
only twenty-four hours ago.

I have tried and no, we cannot escape unless we give up life. YET all tomorrows I feared, I can't even remember now. I LOVE this poem, Paula, I really, really do.

Great thoughts Paula. I guess many of us are kind of 'there' right now, longing to get away, escape, dream dreams, fly away! :) Sadly, when we get back, those responsibilities are there, we can't escape too far!

The responsibilities are always waiting for us. When I take a few days off Soup, I have so much work to do. I sometimes wonder if it was worth taking the time off. Nobody knows their tomorrow, but has enough sense to see that time opportunes moments and not morrows. If there is enough time, then make use of it and not waste it while away toward forfeiture.
