What If

What if I am wrong about this altercation
What if strength instead it gives
When the panic that follows ceases
How long until you need more from me

What if these moments continued
What if the tide surged until it went calm
Does it work for you as it does me
It as water ever moving

What if we kept this anticipation
Not knowing if it would or would not
No future just the unplanned
Forever or never just the same

What if we met one evening
Same place, drank tea, played games
What if I panicked for that short while
If only to resurface again
