What I Regret the Most

The thing about having Ex’s
is that you dream about each one
at times to relieve the pain
At times just for fun
Sometimes you miss their beauty
Sometimes you miss their laugh
But mostly miss their presence
wishing they were still there
You don’t forget their faces
And you don’t forget that stare
The silent unasked question
The “Why?” that isn’t there
You regret the separation
Sometimes with deep despair
You miss their little duties
That often showed they cared
Then you taste depression
That takes you God knows where
If you haven't recovered yet
Keep looking for that repair
Regret shows it’s ugly face
When you cannot be there
And arms they seem so empty
When once they could show care
Having regretted the moments
Yet rejoicing that you cared
You ask the Lord to bless them
With a silent prayer

Those who have been in our dreams for long will continue to haunt us even after you drift away from them. Nostalgic longings will continue to plague us. That's the nature of love. While they were there, you couldn't relish their presence. What a sad fate for man! Well crafted dear friend !

The one I love the most is the one I had to let go because of the age difference. I was right but it feels so wrong.

That you reminisce is grand and that you remember all the good traits and good memories is also good but why is this person an ex. I would like to perhaps deign to say you were both wrong, but if you think about the why longer you will come to a conclusion. My husband and I got married after 25 years apart and got married 6 months after he phoned me and are married for 23 years. We were always right for each other and always thought of each We got married during the next 6 months after those 25 years In which we had each been divorced. All depends on the why you are not together now. BLESSINGS JENNIFER

You don't want them because you earn them or they earn you. And it hurts both ways which makes this piece so true.

I like the rhythm, rhyme and flow of this one. Sad that some couples end up as ex's, but life happens even though God said whatsoever God has joined together let not man put asunder. Then again maybe God did not put them together. Thanks for sharing this one and for dropping by my page. Sara

I like this. Been there you might say. They do visit in your dreams, for better or worse. But yes, years after the angst you only wish them well
