What I Did

"what I did"
I didn't hear a bird sing nor did I see a butterfly fly
I didn't ride with the wind high on a horse in open fields
what I did was turn a page
I didn't travel to unknown lands nor did I speak another language
I didn't dream among the stars and witness their illuminating light
what I did was turn a page
for all birds and butterflies with grace
for all stars showing illuminating light
with words your legacy lives on forevermore
I didn't hear a bird sing nor did I see a butterfly fly
or have I

It is difficult to imagine a life without reading and for a child, it is tragic. The world opens up, inspires dreams and imagination that anything is...possible. You have penned this with much grace, Lisa. Exquisite writing, a very touching piece. blessings xxx

Good Morning Lynn. I so agree with your words and intake of not being able to read and reading itself. Yes, the world opens up to everything. I so appreciate your generosity and continued support and yes for turning to an earlier entry. Have a wonderful morning and I will see you on your page.

How sad that a child could get by without reading. I love reading with my daughter.

No doubt - that's one of the best things, Tim. Also have read that a good off-the-cuff predictor of how well kids do in school is how many books are in their home; more is definitely better.

Lisa, just the creativity you used to write this poem is amazing. What a cool thought and you brought it out so nicely. I love how you did this, it's like a story within a story. Now, I am one of those dark world people, I don't read much because my attention span and free time don't play nice. I have read several books in the past and enjoyed each one I read. I have actually written two, but just don't sit down and take the time I should, I do read poetry though and I love reading yours.

Hello Chris - I am beyond thankful and grateful for such a review and commentary that you share. I'll join you in that club that doesn't permit time to read. These days my reading consist or opening the mail and poetry. However I will always adore poetry and this artistry. But for those who can not read how sad a thought and dark world. Enjoy your night and weekend
