What Happened
It was my first day
At my new school
I wanted to be popular
I wanted to be cool
So I changed some things about me
I became somebody new
I was making lots of new friends
All my dreams were coming true

What happened to the old me
I’ll never really know
I neglected all my old friends
Didn’t think that it would show
Every thing was changing
Right before my eyes
So a made a lot of stuff up
And I told a lot of lies
My life was really changing
So was my attitude
My old friends wouldn’t talk to me
Didn’t know what I should do
I thought to myself “They’re jealous”
But my friend said “Look and see”
As I looked into the mirror
The person I saw just wasn’t me
Chorus
I continued to look in the mirror
And I began to cry
My friend was looking at me
Deep into my eyes
She told me that I’d hurt her
When I wanted to find new friends
She wondered what she did to me
To make out friendship end
I told her she did nothing
And I asked what I should do
She said just try just being you
I took the advice from my old friend
And tried just being me
It makes you so much happier
Try it and you’ll see
