What Fascinates Me

More than anything Nature fascinates me Men living in close proximity to nature, I love to see So I ramble into the city’s far outskirts Watching ordinary people in commonplace pursuits Imbibing much from the life of the peasantry Whom none can beat in life’s lessons elementary How they interact devoid of all cold formality And remain free from all artificiality I inhale the fragrance of the wayside blooms Watch kingfishers and parakeets in colorful plumes My eyes never miss Nature’s minute caprices And I rejoice in home bound birds’ sonatas I watch the daylight paving way for the night And the sun willfully surrendering his might I listen to the invisible choir, singing in the dark That breaks the sacred silence of the dusk How these common scenes fill me with delight Nevertheless making me sorry for the unhappy plight Of those unable to enjoy any ordinary scene And turn their backs to pleasurable sights umpteen Blessed are those who have eyes to see and feel And remain happy being close to Nature’s heel Whose ears are attuned to the beats of the average And who need no other intoxicating beverage Those who get a kick out of the commonplace And seek everyday banal sensations to embrace ________________________________________ May.21.2022 Fascination and Awe Poetry Contest Sponsor- Jeff Kyser

Valsa, As impressed as I am with nature and your beautiful poem I am equally impressed with your command of the English language. The ebb and flow of your description of everything you write about is pure pleasure. People have lost the ability to speak the way you write. Each of your observations so eloquently expressed in a fluent and persuasive manner. Just a joy to read. Cal Bambi

Valsa - Thank you for some wonderful imagery! Having moved out to the country, I connected with a lot of this, and I can’t imagine living in a big city and missing out on the simple wonder of nature. Thanks so much for entering!

lovely lines of the natural world and more so your deep appreciation....i watch Youtube videos of music with scenery...i become the eagle with wings spread gliding o'er....as it progresses the Mindfulness becomes ataraxia where i fly above storms, where i am free to wing my way thru and soar to such heights i touch brevity of eternity...as of now my desk window is filled with birds feeding...below a mother sparrow feeds her young....life has a no deeper meaning than that

The first description of this true poet's adventures through the natural world with your devoted muse, Valsa. You have developed some very great metaphors there—the best chance of winning.

Thirty years ago I moved from the city to the countryside and I like nothing better than to go for walks and cycling and seeing the beauty of nature. Good luck Valsa and have a lovely weekend. Tom

I am sure your poetry originates from peaceful surroundings and the countryside offers you much happiness. I was born in a small village. Now I live in a semi urban area. It is with nostalgia that I think of those happy days in my native village. Thanks a lot honorable poet friend....

How lovely this poetry is, a real life account of this genuine poets nature rambles, and caring muse. Love the fact 'common scenes' is applied here, an old fashion way, being lost in this modern concrete world.

This comment from you, I deem as an honor. Nature with those who live close to nature always fascinates me. The serene village is preferred to the bustling cities. Thank you so much harry .....
