What Does the Beast Want

The beast turned and gave the crusader the evil eye
Soldier gulped, but kept coming, determined to show his strength.
Is that Kilroy? Beast asked.
Kilroy was astounded. The beast knew his name!

If that sword touches me I will torch you, the dragon promised.
A promise from a dragon! Kilroy’s heart leapt.
He was surely well-known and important now.
He had no idea that he spoke dragon until today.

What does the beast want? A voice asked.
Great idea! What do you want? Kilroy asked the dragon.
Unfortunately, these were his last years
For his sword had accidentally touched the beast.
