What Do You Know
So you know the only road you know
But do you know this isn't it,
and
do you know anything about long dark hours and dark nights
and darker thoughts,
darker than you ever realized, and
Do you know when there is nothing left inside
like your worthless
like broken pieces
like shards of shattered glass.
Do you know why you're always in hurry to get to nowhere?
Do you know why I want to write these words about you as I sit in this cafe broke, crowded with people I don't care to know
at all, ever.
Do you know how many times I've read these words backwards
to borrow a phrase
What do you know about an empty soul
a weary life,
a painful experience that grips the present
What do you know that you pretend not to know?
