What About Love
What about love, that silver ghost—
She haunts the hallways of my song.
She dances barefoot upon the coast,
And disappears before too long.
She wore a veil of desert wind,
With eyes like storms that never end.
She whispered truths no heart could hear,
And left me letters I couldn’t send.
What about love, that ancient flame,
Who calls me by no earthly name?
She lingers in the lace I wear,
She’s in the salt that stains my hair.
I’ve given diamonds, taken flight—
I’ve sung her sorrow through the night—
But still I ask the stars above:
What about love? Sigh, What about love?
