What a Man: a Tribute To My Uncle
Amidst tribulation, persecution, desperation and deprivation
Put downs, beat downs, and let downs
In such a location, station, nation
as we abide and reside in this generation
Where there’s hostility instead of tranquility
One by one, people join in the game called multiplication
That begets deviation and condemnation
Until we’re in need of much transformation
Yes, amidst all this
Rises a man, and what a man!
A man whose dignity, serenity, humility and personality
Give him the ability, stability, and versatility
To make life worth living a true reality
A man who’s sagacious, vivacious and bodacious
Wise, cheerful and courageous
A man dependable, indispensable, needed and indisputably
invincible, unstoppable
Whose love and support is so vast that it reaches past the mass,
cast of family
And flows, grows, glows in the lives of friends
And all people in general
What a man!
His counsel and advice so willingly a device
Such wisdom, revelation, and rationalization
When this man gives declaration, he needs no preparation
Restitution, no need for substitution
His assistance often one’s last solution
His words become a constitution and institution
Vehicle of elevation, a bridge out of sorrow and confusion
His heart so melted in flames of love
His desire is peace, joy, happiness for all of us
His smile is radiant, jubilant, exuberant, dimple-ment
His way, full of gentleness, meekness, goodness, kindness
Yes! Right in the midst of tribulation, persecution,
desperation and deprivation
Put downs, beat downs and let downs
Has come this man—
AND WHAT A MAN!
