We'Ve Reviewed Your Resume, And--

We've reviewed your resume, and...
It's only one job, after all.
...While your qualifications are impressive,...
I can always apply for another, of course.

It's only one job, after all.
...We don't have an opening for you at this time...
I can always apply for another, of course.
...We'll keep your resume on file, however...

...We don't have an opening for you at this time...
Jobs are a lot like buses, actually.
...We'll keep your resume on file, however...
If I miss this one, I'll just catch the next one.

Jobs are a lot like buses, actually.
...And we'll contact you in the future...
If I miss this one, I'll just catch the next one.
...should a job matching your qualifications open up...

Then again, if the bus drivers go on strike--
...While your qualifications are impressive...
~ I'd be toast, wouldn't I?
...We've reviewed your resume, and...

ha! great job on an imperfect pantoum? Can one ever write a perfect imperfect pantoum? That's a weird form, isn't it? I imagine this is a bit of a trick to write and have it make sense. Nice job!

I actually have found pantoums fairly easy, esp. compared to some other forms on the Soup. Try one, Jeff. You'll do great, I'm sure! :) Gershon

I think that I got an even bigger chuckle out of your comment. It was spot-on,...precisely targeted---bullseye, John! Kudos to you! I absolutely treasure your visits. Very much appreciated. ~ Gershon

Ah, yes, brings back so many memories of the frustration and rejection of job hunting, especially if you have to take the bus, as I did for so many years!

Yup! You were a real trooper, I'm sure, Michelle---and those were not, perhaps, the 'good old days,' were they? (I know they weren't for me!). Thank for reading and for your review! :) gw

Well done, Gershon. Love how this captures the whole frustrating feeling of job hunting. Being older has its advantages... retirement for one!

You're so right, Line...Job hunting is especially hard for those seeking their first position in non-STEM positions. At least, it is in the USA. Sooooooo frustrating for so many. Thank you for your kind words, as always! Best wishes, gw
