Notes About The Poem

Well, That Was Awkward

"Congrats on your pregnancy, Suzie!," exclaimed Carl

"Umm, I'm not pregnant, Carl," replied Suzie

"Oh, I thought...bloated?" says Carl

*long, uncomfortable silence*

"Darn, I'm sorry, Suzie...wrong word!
Long time no see! How ya livin', Queen!?"

*silence*

"You know I was messing with you, right?" says Carl

"You weren't, though," replied Suzie

"You're right, I'm so sorry. How've you been?
Can we just start over, Suzie? Am I forgiven?
How's your hubby doing, by the way?"

"I'll forgive you for asking,
if you'll forgive me for not answering," replies Suzie...

as she walks off.

Thank you, Sandra. Wow, the rubbing on the belly part! I can't even begin to imagine how devastating and harrowing that experience was for you. I'm so sorry for your loss, my friend:-(

Yes, Kim, people not very socially skilled are likely to find themselves in this sort of situation, lol. Stay well and safe out there!
