Welcome O 2023

Bye, O 2022,
Good riddance to you,
And welcome O 2023,
The gate is open, see,
Come in, but wait a bit,
On that doormat wipe your feet
Clean all of your vain ego,
Let it not its face show.
And on that Rangoon creeper in blossom,
Hang your unhappiness before ye come.
And all that busyness you feign,
Hang it on that hook again,
Leave all negativity so obtuse
Outside, along with your shoes,
And yes, look at that rose plant there,
Look, fragrant has turned all nearby air,
A smile has blossomed with grace,
Pluck it and wear it on your face.
We’ve done all we can to welcome you,
And wish you unfold all goodness in you,
And despite all this
If you fail to summon all your bliss,
Like 2022 you too we’ll never miss.

Poet’s note: Oh I can’t wait to say good bye to 2022, nor wait for just a few more days for the coming year 2023 to dawn. So, pray, bear with this baby before its time, if not a premature one.
