They spoke to the people
In their own language
Even though they were Galileans
Each one could share the Word
Through a tongue that was not his own
But was a dialect given by the Spirit
Who was now living inside
Where He would always give them
Sweet peace and grace
A sense of love that whispered
To the soul with a breath of hope
Assurance that Jesus is alive
Living inside the heart who knows
The Holy Spirit comes to show us
God’s insight into the scriptures
His wisdom so that it fills us
His fire – breathed within
Where we can feel Him giving us
A sense of direction, affection
And, ultimately, correction!
To each heart, the Holy Spirit spoke
Giving the answers to every question
And a common joy of salvation bestowed
To every soul, the Holy Spirit voiced
Acknowledgement of the presence that was
The Lord of Lords as Jesus spirit filling them
To each one, the Holy Spirit uttered
Words of grace to completely amaze
Giving forgiveness and a second chance
To every thought, the Holy Spirit declared
He would bring love that would abound
Filling them up with kindness that would always last
They spoke to the people
In the language they could understand
Left them with assurance
That salvation had been found
And God would always be there
Alive within – where He is always
A friend, a comfort, a wisdom
Leaving the heart with the feeling
That God has touched them deeply
And given them a sense of acceptance
Never rejecting or neglecting
But always assuring there is the blessing
Of knowing the God of heaven
Through His Spirit, who will tell them
Everything God would like to convey
Through light, love and laughter that comes
From knowing this Spirit who brings us
Through every storm and across every worry
Into the sweet peace of God’s love
To each life, the Holy Spirit expressed
His holy impression through the sensation
That comes from knowing Him and listening
To that still, small voice
That is such a delightful mystery!
Holy Spirit, I welcome You
To breathe your fire through me
Acts 1:5
For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now
