We Will Overcome
Grayish age-old clouds leaned on the wings of the sky,
Darkness fell upon the slumberous earth,
In the dawn my door-bell chimed by a gale of wind
That rolled me up,
I was longing for a quiet dawn to have a glimpse
On the flying geese, a pasture with herds,
But now my soul is driven like a lost bird
Caught in a terrible storm,
I had once comfort, love and passion,
Now I wander with many others in agonies!
Surely we wander in the darkness of the storm,
But in every roaring of thunder we find a volition of oath—
That we will overcome the storm
With the glow of an ebullient dawn!
