Notes About The Poem

We Will Not Weep
There is a sad, that comes from seeing
Beyond the weary tears, the faded silence
Into the heart of one who knows…
There is dread, flavored in cold – bitterness
Pieced together with threads of doubt,
Stories in quiet tones of despair, disrupted
By the heavy hand of darkness, the shadows
Ripping through the hesitant peace,
Revealing the naked wind of horrifying tears,
Tears ripped from the flesh, one trembling bead
At a time…
There is a sad, that is alive in those who don’t grieve
Yet the grief silences their voice throughout all time,
With a quiet that never quite stills the fears,
The dread, the doubt, the dismal desperation
Coming apart at the seams, or the little lessons
All about remembering how it feels to care, to believe
Remembering how it feels to just feel something
More than the nagging ache of uncertainty
There is a sad, that comes from the lack of a tear
The sad that bleeds from wounds no one ever sees
Wounds carved out by knives of cruelty and craziness
Collected in the bloody hearts of those who can’t see
Even when they let go, they refuse to let go of the grief
That grief that is like a stone, hung around their soul
Weighting them down with a distant knowing…
Wherever life takes them, wherever they go
There is a sad that goes along, waiting the moment
When they’ll tear away the husk and see beyond the shell
A feeling that will startle their very bones,
Like a living hell… this is a sad that never forgets
Among the shadows of regret, there is a darkness
Black as black and just as dreadful as the fear that says
Time must end and then He will send…
The saddest among us… to a home where there is no more
Sadness, no more fear, no more tears
The sad will forever say… thanks to Jesus, there is a way
Out of the pain, the dread, the shame
There is a love that cures all the doubts that came
There is a light that shines through the darkest night
There is a hope that no sadness can ever come…
To that home where Jesus provides for all
A joy unspeakable, a love that we’ll keep
Forever and always, eternally – we will not weep
