We of the Open Heart
we of the open heart
I thought poetry came from the mind
through the heart.
Perhaps I am wrong.
Too dreamy eyed existing
in my own world of
loving kindness and innate
good in all.
Perhaps to maintain this world,
I have had to withdraw further
and further from humankind.
(funny term is it not?)
I refuse to stop being me.
So I take the responsibility
for the painful consequences.
We who live from the heart
know the risk and
do not blame ourselves
for the occasional negative
response of being used
we believe in innate good.
It is a most fowl sin to abuse loving people
treating their openheartedness as a weakness
of which they can take advantage.
That is the transgressors responsibility.
By no means believe
that we are weak or
helpless because
after you have finished abusing
listen carefully ....and hear us roar.
