We Must Live

We suffer greatly
So that the task
Of helping others
Can be accomplished.
Let the chorus of anguish
Sing in our hearts,
And be heard
In the streets of despair.

We must live
So as to bring
Our brothers through the night,
Which we have been blessed
To endure.
We, who have suffered
Beyond all endurance,
Possess the fire 
To show the way.
