We May Bleed, But We Will Never Die

Beyond tragedy
there is a hidden strength
that comes to the fore
Welling up from within
Strength to do what must be done

It fortifies us
Pulling us up on our feet
when our steps falter
Helping us to guide others
who may be lost to sorrow

It allows us hope
when there is none to be found
and sadness invades
It lets us see with new eyes
that which will be the future

It is that same strength
that lets us say our goodbyes
to our dear loved ones,
who have left this world and us,
and continue on with our lives

With it we embrace
the blow that has been dealt us
and stand up to it
Defeat is never spoken
But we accept the changes

It is our strength
that binds this nation as one
when tragedy strikes
For America may bleed
But we not ever die
