We Have Forgotten
We Have Forgotten
By Franklin Price

We have forgotten what made this nation
The independence declaration
The revolution of our founders
All of this is now what flounders
The Constitution law of the land
The guiding light on which we stand
Contorted twisted adding seasoning
To stir the pot without much reasoning
Through trying times ancestors went
To war our soldiers often sent
Shed their blood for you and me
Because of them we still are free
Secession brought us civil war
Independence we were fighting for
But not for one or selfish few
But for all... that thought renew
We made it through so many died
For years in sorrow this country cried
To remind ourselves of why that mess
Just read the Gettysburg Address
World War Two changed who we are
Until then we viewed the World afar
Forced there to participate
Our choices since have sealed our fate
Our power then and who we were
Won the war and did confer
The concept of a freedom right
For the whole world who fought the fight
Somehow from that we did surmise
That all should live as us.. surprise!
Where is that freedom we purport
The world's not ours to force/support
Need to review what made us work
The concept planned was not a quirk
There now is stench and much is rotten
What made us great we have forgotten
