We Are Titans All!

We are Titans All!
Big and small
marching off to the front lines of life
every day
Overcoming the tides of challenges
we all face

The roar of War fills our subconscious minds with fear but
we soldier on into each new day

Martyrs wielding naught
but the swords of our pure will to thrive and survive
Embattled by the constant onslaught of flat tires, late fees and the Injustice
of a world of automated customer service "please choose one of the following"

We are hunted by soulless line cutters who haunt airports, parking lots
and grocery lines
like dementors in Harry Potter's nightmares

Yes...
We are Titans all!
cooking dinners, sweeping floors
and making beds
working for self-centered bosses who take the credit for anything great we do

We heroically get the oil changed
and replace our brakes
We face down rising bills that must be paid lest we freeze ourselves and our families

And...Still
the roar and apocalyptic threatening din goes on just over the horizon
....across the sea

In order to survive
we close our eyes
seal up our emotions and march
onto the front porch

Where we pick up the shovel
and start to dig ourselves out
from under a
freshly fallen foot of snow

Titans all!
We will dutifully overcome
our new day's adversaries ....
burst pipes and flooded basements

just in time
to remember to buy
cards and candy for our loved ones

and bring home
the heart-shaped cake
