We Are One

We are one We are one though we are many Like a tree with many branches Some strong others weak Some budding others dying Some fruitfull others fruitless Some green others growing brown We are one though we are many We are one We are one The air I breath you breath it too The ground on which I tread you tread on it too The rivers from which you drink, I drink from them too We are one though we are many We are one. We are one, we are one though we speak different tongues To the one up there our voices are like a song If I hit you... will you not feel pain? If I cut you... will you not bleed? If you cut me... will my blood be yellow and cold? See we are one though different We are one. We are one Even in our diversity in our differences We are not a mass of masslets that our thoughts are same Each is unique, in intellect, in skill, in wisdom,in knowledge We are one even though different We are one. We are one So have a care for that sister who speaks another tongue That brother who spots a different colour That kid whose smile is worth a million bucks But who cannot tell a banana from a mango That woman who hawks sweets all hours of the day Or the other one who runs her own company and drives herself Even in diversity we are one so Have some care. We are one None special than the other but this country This home that houses us all In all our shades, shapes, tongues Is bigger than us all To be able to live in peace To be able to wake up in the morning With the peace of mind that we'll make it We need to remember we are one And none is more special than the other Mutual respect should be the first step We always say peace love and unity well to uphold those values we must remember To respect one another We are one even in diversity We are one. #formycountryKenyaandthepeoplethatilove #letskeepthepeace #electionscomeandgo MWM
